5280 Magazine / Maria Garcia Berry

I recently had the opportunity to do a photoshoot of Maria Garcia Berry for a editorial piece for 5280 Magazine.

In 1962 Maria Garcia Berry left her home in Cuba, during high pressured times. She was one of 14,000 children sent to the United States under Operation Pedro Pan, She was 8 years old when she made the travel without her parents. Before her flight there was a contraband search, the Cuban military police tore the heads off all her dolls— she was able to save one. That one doll will be on display at the Denver museum of Nature & Science
